  • 1 ham bone with meat , without any fat
  • 4 quarts of water
  • 1 pound of dry great Northern beans
  • 2 cups of fully cooked ham , diced
  • 1 cup of celery , diced
  • 1 cup of carrots , diced
  • 1 cup of onion , diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic , minced
  • 4 tablespoons of dry sherry (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ร‚ยผ cup of fresh parsley , minced (optional)
