  • 2 pounds of onions (, chopped)
  • 4 green bell peppers (, chopped)
  • 4 carrots (, chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (, chopped)
  • 4 cloves of garlic (, minced)
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) of tomato sauce
  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons of prepared horseradish
  • 4 teaspoons of kosher salt
  • 4 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon of celery seed
  • 1 teaspoon of seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®)
  • 1 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®)
  • 1 cup of lemon juice
  • 8 sterilized canning jars (1 quart size) with lids and rings
  1. Grind the chile de arbol peppers into a powder using a mortar and pestle.
  2. In a food processor, finely chop the tomatoes, onions, green bell peppers, carrots, jalapeno pepper, and garlic (working in batches if needed). Transfer the chopped vegetables to a large pot.
  3. Add tomato sauce, vinegar, horseradish, ground chile de arbol peppers, kosher salt, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, bay leaves, celery seed, seafood seasoning, and hot pepper sauce to the pot with the vegetables. Stir well.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Stir regularly and remove the bay leaves.
  5. If desired, process the mixture through a vegetable juicer (working in batches if necessary) and strain excess pulp from the juice.
  6. Pour the juice into a large pot and heat over medium heat until it is nearly boiling. Stir in lemon juice.
  7. Sterilize jars and lids by boiling them in water for at least 5 minutes.
  8. Fill the hot, sterilized jars with the bloody mary mix, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Use a knife or thin spatula to remove any air bubbles from the jars. Wipe the rims of the jars with a moist paper towel to remove any food residue. Place lids on the jars and screw on the rings
