Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of tomato paste
  • 2 tsp of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp of dried basil
  • 2 to 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 cups of canned chickpeas , drained and rinsed, with 1/2 cup of liquid reserved
  • 1/4 cup of tahini
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • Kosher salt

Instructions
 

  • Warm up the olive oil in a small skillet on medium-high heat.
  • Put in the tomato paste, oregano, and basil. Cook for approximately 2 minutes until they are slightly toasted.
  • Move the mixture of tomato paste to a food processor.
  • Combine the garlic, chickpeas, chickpea liquid, tahini, lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon of salt with the tomato paste mixture.
  • Blend everything together in the food processor until it becomes smooth and creamy.
