Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp bacon fat
  • 1 big onion , finely chopped
  • 2 carrots , peeled and finely chopped
  • 3 celery stalks , finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic , minced
  • 3 potatoes , peeled and finely chopped
  • 8 cups of boiling water
  • 8 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • ½ package (8 oz) frozen corn
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt bacon grease.
  • Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the skillet. Cook and stir until the vegetables are slightly tender and fragrant, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the potatoes and continue to cook and stir until they turn golden, approximately 10 minutes.
