Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup celery , diced
  • 1 cup carrot , shredded
  • 1 cup onion , diced
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 package (14 oz) wonton wrappers
  • 2 eggs , beaten
  • 1 quart canola oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the ground pork, celery, carrot, onion, and garlic. Use your hands to mix everything together until well blended. Season with salt, pepper, and soy sauce.
  • Separate the wonton wrappers and place them on a clean surface. Take 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture and place it in the center of each wrapper.
  • Moisten the edges of the wonton wrappers with beaten egg. Fold over the filling to create a triangle shape and press the edges together to seal. Repeat this process until all the wontons are filled and sealed. Place the finished wontons on a baking sheet.
  • In a deep fryer or large saucepan, heat the canola oil to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Fry the wontons in batches of about 6 at a time. Cook them until they turn golden brown and float to the top, which should take around 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the fried wontons and drain them on a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Alternatively, if you prefer not to deep fry, you can boil the wontons in broth or soup. Simply cook them until they float, which should take about 4 to 5 minutes.
