  • ½ onion , diced
  • 2 tsp of salt , divided
  • 2 lbs of beef stew meat , cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tsp of freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves of garlic , minced
  • ½ tsp of dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 3 cups of chopped mushrooms
  • 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 package (16 oz) of wide egg noodles
  • ¾ cup of sour cream , or adjust to taste

  • Turn on the multi-functional pressure cooker (e.g., Instant Pot) and choose the Sauté function. Heat the oil for 1 minute.
  • Add the onion and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the pot. Cook and stir until the onion starts to soften, which should take around 3 to 4 minutes.
