Ingredients
- 2 – 15 oz cans of black beans, unseasoned, drained
- ½ cup flour, whole wheat (all-purpose flour can also be used)
- ¼ cup cornmeal, yellow
- ½ cup salsa of choice
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- Hamburger buns or pita pockets
- Sliced tomato, onion, leaf lettuce, or burger fixings of choice
Method
Step 1
Process drained black beans in food processor until mostly smooth.
Step 2
Add flour, yellow cornmeal, salsa, garlic salt, and cumin to the beans; process until blended.
Step 3
Separate mixture into six equal portions and chill veggie burgers in refrigerator for 1-4 hours.
Step 4
Remove portioned mixture from refrigerator. Form each portion into a patty, about ½” thick.
Step 5
Coat grill or pan lightly with oil and set to medium heat. Place veggie burgers on grill or pan and cook until heated through, approximately 5 minutes on each side.
Step 6
Serve immediately, on buns or in pitas, topped with your favorite burger fixings and spreads.
