Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil (or more if needed)
  • 1 onion , chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic , minced
  • 1 can (12 fl oz) of ale , divided
  • 5 sprigs of parsley , stemmed and chopped
  • 2 tsp of tomato paste
  • 2 tsp of Portuguese hot pepper sauce (pimenta)
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 tsp of ground paprika
  • 2 pounds of unpeeled large shrimp , deveined
  • 1 tsp of kosher salt

Instructions
 

  • Heat the olive oil in a big skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and garlic, and cook and stir until they become soft, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the parsley, tomato paste, hot pepper sauce, chicken bouillon, and paprika.
  • Pour in half of the ale and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  • Pour the remaining ale into the skillet and add the shrimp.
  • Season with salt and cook until the shrimp absorbs the liquid and turns pink, which usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
