  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 large meaty smoked ham bone
  • 6 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 whole bay leaves
  • 3 tablespoons of dried minced onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon of minced fresh garlic
  • ½ teaspoon of dried thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon of dry mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon of chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon of paprika
  • 5 cups of water
  • 1 cup of sliced celery
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 can (28 ounces) of tomato puree
  • ½ cup of ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons of chicken soup base
  • 3 tablespoons of molasses
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon of cracked black pepper (or to taste)
