  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil , or more as needed
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • Scallions , sliced diagonally, as a garnish
