  • cooking spray
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 bunch of fresh spinach
  • 1 container (8 ounces) of ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg , lightly beaten
  • 1 pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of dried basil
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup of pasta sauce
  • ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese


  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Use cooking spray to grease a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  • In a large pot, bring lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Cook the lasagna in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until it is cooked through but still firm to the bite, which should take about 8 minutes.
  • Drain the cooked lasagna.
  • Place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill it with water, making sure the water level is just below the bottom of the steamer.
